Tony Khan Says MJF Has Been A Huge Part Of The Success Of AEW, Won’t Speculate On Unrelated Comments

MJF dominated the headlines over AEW Double or Nothing weekend with many wondering if he would show up to the event after he missed the fan fest on Saturday and had a flight booked out of Vegas.

MJF did show up to AEW Double or Nothing, losing quickly to Wardlow in the first bout of the night.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported on the AEW Double or Nothing post-show, “MJF claimed to us that he showed up shortly before his match, left right after, and has a lot to think about.”

Speaking to Andreas Hale on The Corner podcast on Friday night, before Double or Nothing, Khan was asked about MJF’s situation.

“I can’t…he’s been a big part of the company from day one, but I can’t really speculate on what he’s been saying about stuff that is unrelated to his match with Wardlow. It’s not related to what we’re talking about on television,” he said.

MJF has been very open about his contract situation with AEW, saying he will go where the money goes and will listen to an offer from WWE when his AEW contract expires at the start of 2024.

When asked if he was surprised by MJF’s comments regarding his contract, Khan replied, “No, I’m not surprised, for a variety of reasons. Coming out of this weekend, as of now and everything he’s done in AEW, he’s been a huge part of the success of the company and he’s signed here for a long time. It’s 2022, and 2024 is a long way away.”

Fightful Select reported that MJF’s contract expires on January 1, 2024.

Following AEW Double or Nothing, Khan gave “no comment” when asked about what happened with MJF over the weekend.

Fightful Select has plenty of details regarding the situation between MJF, AEW, and Tony Khan.
