Tony Khan Issues No Comment On MJF Situation At AEW Double Or Nothing
Tony Khan won’t talk about MJF.
On Saturday, MJF missed the AEW Double or Nothing fan fest and booked a flight out of Las Vegas, but didn’t end up getting on the plane. MJF did show up to AEW Double or Nothing, losing to Wardlow in the first bout of the night.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported on the AEW Double or Nothing post-show, “MJF claimed to us that he showed up shortly before his match, left right after, and has a lot to think about.”
When asked about MJF’s status with the company and what went down over the weekend, Tony Khan replied, “I’m not going to comment on that. I’ve got a lot of stuff from the pay-per-view that I can comment on, but I’m not going to comment on that,” during the AEW Double or Nothing media scrum.
Fightful Select published the following report regarding MJF and his contract situation on Sunday:
January 1, 2024 is the date of expiration for the MJF AEW contract, according to sources close to MJF himself. MJF had originally signed with the company in 2019, but signed an extension that significantly increased his salary over the amount he’d signed for. However, since then, MJF has felt like he’s drastically outperformed even that deal and had expressed his frustration with his AEW contract. This led to he and Tony Khan butting heads in early April, leading to much of the drama that has unfolded this weekend.
Fightful Select has more details regarding MJF and AEW including backstage reactions.
