According to a new report, a name from the past is returning to work on the WWE video game franchise.
With WWE 2K22, the WWE video game franchise gained a new lease on life with a much more positive critical reception than the 2019 offering of WWE 2K20. While there is yet to be an official confirmation of a sequel to 2K22 a new report reveals that a veteran of the behind-the-scenes work on the franchise is returning to 2K Games in order to assist in the future of WWE’s video game franchise.
Mike Straw of Sports Gamers Online reports that Bryan Williams, the former senior game designer of the franchise, is returning to 2K Games this month and may already have returned. In past years, Williams worked closely in crafting the Creative Suite which is a beloved portion of the franchise.
As of now, it’s not sure what his role will be. it is also stated that while a new main line game is definitely in the works from WWE in 2K, it does not guarantee that a long-term deal has been finalized. Before this news, Williams worked for Yuke’s, the studio currently making the AEW video game franchise.
During the recent financial earnings call, Stephanie McMahon revealed that WWE is working on a role-playing game. Learn more here.
