Drew McIntyre: Bring Back The European Title, Let Me Win It, Then Retire It

Fans haven’t seen the WWE European Championship since it was unified with the WWE Intercontinental Championship by Rob Van Dam in 2002.

While there have been no plans to bring the championship back, Drew McIntyre hopes to see it return for one reason and one reason only.

“Yes! I just want it,” McIntyre told Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT when asked if he would like the European Title to return. “Because when I was a kid and I saw it I was like ‘ah man, I want to be European champion’ and now I can’t because it doesn’t exist right now. I don’t like too many titles and there are a lot right now, but I just wanted it when I was a kid. So just bring it back, let me win it and then I’ll retire it. You never want too many titles in the company because then it’s not as special. I think where we’re at right now is good, but give ol’ Drew the European title for young Drew.”

McIntyre currently has his sights set on Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

McIntyre teamed with the Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro (Riddle & Randy Orton), but the trio fell short against The Bloodline (Reigns & The Usos) at WrestleMania Backlash. Fans can find Fightful’s full report on the show by clicking here.
