Jade Cargill: I Always Knew I Was A Big Player

Jade Cargill has been money in AEW, racking up an undefeated record and capturing the AEW TBS Championship.

Cargill made an immediate impact when she confronted Cody Rhodes and then wrestled her first match where she teamed with Shaquille O’Neal against Cody & Red Velvet.

Appearing on the Zaslow Show, Jade was asked when Tony Khan started to have faith in her as a featured star on television.

“I always felt like that,” she said. “TK [Tony Khan] is a phenomenal man and leader and he always saw something in me, and that’s what I appreciated. He’s very transparent and open. He just knows what he’s doing. He’s a student of the game and has loved wrestling all his life. He knows what sells and looks good. He puts his best foot forward for his product. I felt like I’ve always been a player in this game and one thing I knew about myself is that I look different. I have to play on what makes me different. I understand that a lot of people have years on me. That’s something that I can’t control. It’s something that I have to work with throughout the years that I’m going to get in this business, but I’ve always been a player in this game. I knew I was a big deal when I stepped foot in AEW regardless of how fans felt. There is something about me that is different. I always knew I was a big player.”

Following her victories, a graphic shows up on the screen announcing Jade’s new record and to celebrate her 30th victory, balloons rained down from the top of the arena.

When asked whose idea it was for the graphic to appear, Jade replied, “Honestly, I have no clue, myself. It never dawned on me, it just happened. ‘You’re at 20 wins, we’re just going to put it on the screen if you win,’ just like that. It wasn’t something that was pre-determined or planned, at least I didn’t know, it just organically happened.”

Cargill most recently teamed with her baddies Kiera Hogan & Red Velvet to defeat Willow Nightingale, Trish Adora & Skye Blue on the April 29 episode of AEW Rampage.
