Swerve Strickland: Sammy Guevara’s Been Unsanitary With TNT Title, So I’ll Go For The World Title
Swerve Strickland gives Hangman props as a World Champion and says he is probably better about keeping his belt sanitized than Sammy Guevara is with the AEW TNT Championship.
Swerve Strickland is one of the latest AEW signees and of course, anyone that joins AEW wants to become World Champion but there are other championship offerings in the promotion. Currently, Swerve is in a rivalry with FTW Champion Ricky Starks and there is, of course, TNT Champion, Sammy Guevara but in a new interview with WhatCulture, Swerve Strickland said he is headed for the top, the World Championship.
“The World Championship, man,” said Swerve. “I want the top. TNT is great. But I’m always looking for more. That doesn’t take anything away from the TNT Title. But like there’s a lot of wolves around that thing right now.”
When explaining his reasoning, Swerve joked that Sammy has been too unsanitary with the belt, referring to Sammy and Tay Conti happily boasting about what “they’ve done with that title.”

“Also, what Sammy did with the title. I think I’m gonna go for the World Championship. I’m pretty sure Adam Page isn’t doing anything like that. Yeah, that’s the sanitized title, it looks like. So, Adam Page, man, I think he deserves more praise for what he’s doing as champion right now. He’s a brilliant, brilliant in-ring performer. A great human being, young, athletic, great looking guy, poise, charismatic. He brings so much to the title. He was there from day one. He helped build this company and it’s beautiful to see him running with the championship. But with that being said, I want to take it from him,” said Swerve.
Swerve recently received high praise from Tony Khan who said that he was not sure how any company could let go of him or Keith Lee. Learn more here.
