WWE Re-Signed Wendy Choo Before Tian Sha Gimmick In 2021, Getting High Praise From Officials

Wendy Choo is locked down.

The former Mei Ying and Karen Q, Wendy Choo signed an extension with WWE in 2021, we’re told. Following her performance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Fightful was contacted by a higher up in WWE, who noted that the company “locked her down with a new deal last year,” although the length of the contract was not revealed.

Fightful learned that Choo was offered a new deal well before returning to WWE television as a member of Tian Sha, and the deal wasn’t signed until much later. The Mei Ying gimmick and the Tian Sha character were said to have been personal favorites of Triple H and had the backing of Shawn Michaels. However, when the former fell out of power in NXT an experienced health issues, the gimmick was scrapped without explanation. The higher up that we spoke to said that it was evident that Choo would excel when provided the right opportunity, and they’re happy with her performance.
