Deonna Purrazzo Comments On Mercedes Martinez Winning Interim ROH Women’s Title
Deonna Purrazzo is the reigning ROH Women’s Champion, but she was not present for ROH Supercard of Honor.
Purrazzo had commitments to IMPACT on April 1, and though Tony Khan talked to Scott D’Amore about working something able, Purrazzo was unable to make the show. With Purrazzo unable to defend the title, Mercedes Martinez battled Willow Nightingale for the Interim ROH Women’s Championship.
Martinez won the bout, setting up a title vs. interim title bout with Purrazzo.
“Mercedes is a tough competitor, I’ve been in the ring with her a dozen times. The last time I was in the ring with her, she was tapping out, ‘I quit,’ to the Virtuosa. Whenever there is a unification match and she wants to step into the ring with the real Ring of Honor Women’s Champion then the same result is going to happen,” Purrazzo told MuscleMan Malcolm when asked about Martinez’ victory.
Speaking on being unable to make ROH Supercard of Honor and how she felt about the Interim Title announcement, Purrazzo said, “We talked about…we had our IMPACT show, we had two shows. I’m under contract with IMPACT, there’s not much I can do. My hands are kind of tied. I would have loved to defend the championship. Big things are to come. It was announced that down the road I would wrestle the winner and it was Mercedes. Everyone can cool the brakes a little bit. Calm down, stop with the negativity. Realize that Mercedes and I are going fucking kill it whenever we get in the ring.”
It is unknown when Purrazzo and Martinez will clash to determine the Undisputed ROH Women’s Champion.
Purrazzo is set to hold another Champ Champ challenge on Thursday’s IMPACT. She will defend her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Taya Valkyrie at IMPACT Rebellion.
