Raw Women’s Title Match Official For WWE WrestleMania Backlash
Sonya Deville gets her match.
Bianca Belair will have her first Raw Women’s Championship defense against Sonya Deville at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8. The bout was made official on WWE’s The Bump.
Deville named herself as the number one contender on Monday’s WWE Raw, attacking Belair after the champion signed an open contract for her next challenger. Belair won the title at WrestleMania 38, defeating Becky Lynch.
Deville most recently lost on TV to Ronda Rousey on the March 4 episode of WWE SmackDown. She has not won a singles match since defeating Mandy Rose on the April 25, 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown, but did miss over a year of in-ring action after losing a Loser Leaves WWE match to Rose at SummerSlam 2020.
She returned as an authority figure alongside Adam Pearce.
