— The show begins and our commentary team of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur welcome us to tonight’s show and it’s time for our opening contest of the evening.
CM Punk vs. Penta Oscuro (with Alex Abrahantes)
— The pair go at it right as the bell sounds. Punk and Penta trade heavy strikes in the center of the ring, Penta drills Punk with a super-kick, Punk lands a spinning-back kick to the mid-section and slams Penta to the mat with an arm-drag before going for the cover but Penta lifts the shoulders. Punk with some chops, Penta trips Punk and locks-in an ankle lock but Punk sends Penta face-first into the top turnbuckle. Penta with a trip, then a slam then a cover but Punk kicks out. Both competitors struggle to their feet, Penta wallops Punk with a leg kick then tosses Punk out of the ring. Penta launches himself off the ropes and looks for a baseball slide but Punk rushes back into the ring and drills Penta on the outside with a tope suicida and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and both competitors are on the top turnbuckle. Punk with some strikes then stands on the top rope but Penta trips Punk to the mat and referee Bryce Remsburg checks on the ‘injured’ left leg of Punk. Penta goes back in the attack with some punches, tosses Punk to the corner and then the opposite corner but Punk’s leg gives out and Penta drills him with some kicks. Punk fights back, puts Penta on the top turnbuckle and plants him with a hurricanrana. Punk sends Penta to the corner, nails him with a running knee, looks for the GTS, Penta slides out and locks-up a submission, Punk rolls out and slams Penta before locking up the Anaconda Vice but Penta drags himself to the bottom rope to force the break. They both roll under the bottom rope and start fighting on the apron, Penta looks for a pile-driver, Punk counters and looks for a suplex but Penta slides out and Punk drills him with a super-kick back into the ring. Punk goes up top and drills Penta with a diving lariat, then a knee in the corner before setting up for the GTS but Penta catches the knee and looks for the package pile-diver, Punk rolls out, Penta trips him to the mat and looks for an arm-bar but Punk rolls him back for a cover, Penta rolls Punk back, Punk kicks out, Penta with a super-kick, then a spring-board but Punk catches him and plants him with the GTS for the 1-2-3!
Winner – CM Punk
— We then see a video package hyping up the Jericho Appreciate Society arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana via private jet, earlier today. Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz showed up and attacked 2point0 in the open lot and we head back to the ring where it’s time for our next bout of the evening.
Jurrassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) (C) vs. reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) — AEW Tag Team Championship
— Fish and JB start this one off. JB with a head-lock, Fish sends him off the ropes but JB lays Fish out with a clothesline. JB with a hurricanrana, then an drop-kick then another and then a kip-up. Fish clocks JB with a forearm then makes the tag to KOR, who applies a head-lock. Lucha makes the blond tag and clears house before going for the cover but KOR kicks out. Lucha tosses KOR to the corner and lands a few shots, sends KOR off the ropes but eats a front-kick from KOR, who tosses the big man to the outside, Fish makes the tag, slides outside and launches Lucha face-first into the barricade, then tosses him into the ring and goes for the cover but Lucha kicks out. KOR’s tagged back in, locks-up a leg-lock, makes the tag to Fish, who flips over the top rope with a splash, then a cover but Lucha kicks out. Fish makes another tag to KOR, Lucha knocks KOR back and Fish off the apron and makes the tag to JB, who takes out Fish, KOR lands a knee but JB spring-boards himself with an elbow that knocks KOR back. Both members of reDRagon are on the outside, JB with a dive through the ropes on both men…then another…and goes for the third but KOR and Fish run off, Lucha flips over the top rope and takes out both opponents and JB follows suit. Fish trips JB off the apron, KOR drags JB’s knees over the middle rope, Fish arm-drags him to the outside and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and KOR’s working over JB in the ring and catches JB in an triangle choke but JB forces KOR’s shoulders to the mat for a pin which allows for the break. JB slides behind KOR and makes the tag to Lucha, who takes out both KOR and Fish with super-kicks. Lucha tosses both members of reDRagon opposite corners and lands a pair of splashes to both, Fish looks for a super-kick but Lucha scoots out of the way and Fish drills KOR with the kick. KOR lands a spring-board clothesline, Lucha fights back and plants both KOR and Fish with a double-choke-slam, then a standing moonsault on KOR before going for the cover but KOR kicks out at two-and-a-half! Fish trips JB off the apron right as Lucha’s about to make the tag, KOR then makes the tag to Fish, they hit splashes on a cornered Lucha, JB drills KOR with a super-kick, Lucha makes the tag to JB, who goes up top and wipes out Fish with a diving elbow while Lucha’s holding Fish in mid-air, JB goes for a cover but Fish kicks out. KOR makes the blind-tag, then suplexes JB, Fish tosses Lucha out of the ring, KOR with a German suplex then a cover but JB kicks out. KOR immediately locks-in an arm-bar, JB rolls to the apron and gets his foot on the bottom rope to force the break. KOR puts JB on the top turnbuckle, makes the tag to Fish, they look for a double-team but Lucha knocks Fish off the apron, Fish comes back and evens the odds, KOR with a standing rear-naked choke on Lucha, Fish goes up top and plants JB with a falcon arrow off the top rope OVER KOR and JB, then goes for the cover but Lucha slams KOR into them to force the break. KOR and Lucha trade strikes, JB takes out KOR, Lucha takes out Fish, JB wallops KOR with a flying DDT over Lucha, who nails Fish with a spinning back-kick and Lucha tosses Fish into JB, who catches and plants Fish with a power-bomb for the three-count and the win!
Winners – Jurrassic Express (C)
— After the match, O’Reilly attacks both Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy with a steel chair, O’Reilly and Fish celebrate with the titles before tossing them back at Jurrassic Express and they head out but Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR come down to the ring. FTR hoist their AAA and Ring of Honor Tag Team Titles in the air, they and reDRagon bicker and we head backstage where Tony Schiavone is with William Regal, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta of Blackpool Combat Club. Schiavone announces that Moxley, Danielson and Yuta will face Gunn Club in a six-man tag match this Friday on Rampage. Regal says he couldn’t possibly be happier than to be surrounded by Moxley, Danielson and Yuta. Danielson says they’re fired up because Wheeler Yuta’s gonna be teaming up with them for the first-time and they’ll be the first to beat the 24-0 Gunn Club. Moxley says he doesn’t really know the Gunn Club, but they’re a bunch of clowns, which AEW needs less of and tells Yuta that it’s time to get mean. Yuta says on Friday, the real work begins. Commentary runs down the rest of tonight’s card and announces that MJF will face Captain Shawn Dean next and we head to a commercial break.
— Back from the break and Tony Schiavone’s backstage with Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter. Schiavone announces that Tony Khan has told him that Storm and Hayter will face-off in the first-round of the Owen Hart Cup. Hayter says she wants the match more then Tony Khan…and the fans…because there’s a lot of similarities between them. Hayter says they’ve both honed their craft in Japan and the UK, much like Owen Hart but this is HER [Hayter] crowning moment…and nobody’s gonna stop her. Hayter says she’s going to break Storm’s face and asks if she has anything to say. Storm laughs in Hayter’s face and walks away. We then head back to the ring where it’s time for our next match.
MJF (with Shawn Spears) vs. ‘Captain’ Shawn Dean
— MJF pretends he can’t take off his jacket, Dean tries to go after him but MJF was playing coy and takes Dean down as the bell rings. MJF celebrates on the top turnbuckle and security is shown laid out backstage on the big tron and MJF’s yelling around for Wardlow. MJF tosses Dean out of the ring and into the barricade before celebrating and right behind him is Wardlow…MJF turns around and scurries off, Wardlow goes on the chase, Spears tries to attack Wardlow from behind but Wardlow catches him and sets him up for a power-bomb but security comes running down. Wardlow takes every member of security out, plants one with a power-bomb but security eventually gets ahold of him. Referee Bryce Remsburg is at a count of seven, MJF can’t get back into the ring because of all of the security at ringside. MJF grabs a mic as Remsburg counts nine and says he’ll triple whatever Tony Khan is paying him if he doesn’t count to 10…but Remsburg does anyway. Wardlow gladly backs-off of security and laughs at MJF, who rushes the ring and shoves Remsburg but Spears stops him from attacking Bryce. The big tron shows Wardlow taking out security backstage and he grabs the camera and says he won’t stop until he gets his hands on MJF.
Winner – ‘Captain’ Shawn Dean (via count-out)
— After the match, Wardlow gladly backs-off of security and laughs at MJF, who rushes the ring and shoves Remsburg but Spears stops him from attacking Bryce. The big tron shows Wardlow taking out security backstage and he grabs the camera and says he won’t stop until he gets his hands on MJF. We then see a video package hyping up Darby Allin. Commentary announces that Darby will face Andrade in a Coffin Match on the 4/20 edition of AEW Dynamire. It’s then announced that the Jericho Appreciation Society will face Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz after the break.
— Back from the break and we see a pre-taped promo from Malakai Black, who calls out Fuego del Sol.
Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia) vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz
— Santana and Jericho start this one off. Santana tosses Jericho to a corner and starts unloading strikes. Santana sends Jericho to another corner and drills the former AEW World Champion with a big boot. Jericho tosses Santana into the ropes, Santana with a kick to the mid-section, they trade chops to the chest, Jericho with a forearm to the head and Santana takes Jericho down and lands a bevy of shots. Kingston and Ortiz go after Hager and Garcia on the outside, Jericho slides outside and Santana chases after. Both legal competitors get back into the ring, Santana trips Jericho and lands a punch to the head. Kingston comes in the ring, Santana makes the tag to Ortiz, Santana with an elbow in the corner, Ortiz with an elbow in the corner and Kingston plants Jericho with a urinage. Ortiz gets cheap shotted by Hager, Kingston drags Garcia off the apron and reigns down the strikes on the outside, Jericho makes the tag to Hager, who slams Ortiz and lands a knee to the chest. Ortiz fights back with some forearms but the big man sends him back to the canvas with a ring hook. Ortiz runs the ropes, Hager catches him, Ortiz rolls him up and Hager kicks out. Hager scoops Ortiz, makes the tag to Garcia, Hager slams Ortiz, Garcia unloads some shots and makes the tag to Jericho, who plants Ortiz with a back-slam, then a cover with a boot on the chest but Ortiz lifts the shoulders after a count of two. Kingston comes in and shoves Jericho into the ropes and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and Jericho plants Ortiz with a slam. Jericho goes for the Lion Tamer but Ortiz rolls out and looks for the tag to Kingston, Jericho grabs Ortiz’s leg, Ortiz clocks him with a clothesline and struggles to his corner, Jericho makes the tag to Garcia, who stops Ortiz from making the tag to Kingston. Ortiz kicks Garcia back and finally makes the tag to Kingston, who clears house then drills Garcia with a DDT before making the tag to Santana, who plants Garcia with Three Amigos. Santana goes up top and drills Garcia with a frog splash before going for the cover but Garcia kicks out at two-and-a-half! Santana makes the tag to Kingston, who unloads chops to Garcia’s chest while in the corner and makes the tag to Ortiz, who goes to the middle rope and lands a splash. Kingston knocks Hager off the apron then wallops him on the outside with a dive through the ropes, Ortiz tosses Garcia into Jericho, Santana goes up top and takes out Hager on the outside, 2point0 come down to the ring, Ortiz dives through the ropes and takes them out on the outside. Kingston and Garcia end up being the two legal competitors while back in the ring, Kingston with an over-head suplex and looks for a back-fist but Garcia shoves him back, Jericho clocks Kingston with a baseball bat to the back and Garcia makes the cover for the 1-2-3 and the win!
Winners – Jericho Appreciation Society
— After the match, all members of JAS join the attack on Kingston. Jericho wallops Kingston with the Judas Effect and JAS all celebrate in the center of the ring around the motionless Kingston, Santana and Ortiz and we kick it backstage where we see Alex Marvez with MJF, Shawn Spears and Mark Sterling. MJF says Wardlow has no idea who the real MJF is. MJF says he’s the face of professional wrestling. MJF says he has money and that’s what makes the world go ’round and kicks it to Sterling, who says it’s in Wardlow’s contract that MJF can make him face anyone he wishes. MJF calls Wardlow a pig and says he’s going to put him to work. Jose The Assistant comes in, MJF hands GM an envelope (presumably of cash) and says the best way to slaughter a ‘greedy little pig’ is with a butcher. The Butcher comes in and yells at the camera and we head back to the ring where it’s time for Marina Shafir’s AEW Dynamite debut.
Marina Shafir vs. Skye Blue
— TBS Champion Jade Cargill, alongside Mark Sterling are shown watching this one from backstage. Shafir with an arm-drag takedown and scoops Blue up, Blue rolls out, Shafir catches her and slams her to the mat. Shafir delivers an elbow to the face, then plants Blue with an over-head slam before taunting Cargill’s ‘Baddie Section’ at ringside. Blue rolls Shafir up, Shafir grabs Blue’s leg and rolls her back before locking in a triangle choke which gets the immediate tap by Blue!
Winner – Marina Shafir
— Lexi Nair’s backstage with HOOK, as well as Tony Nese and Mark Sterling. Nese tells Lexi to leave, Nese says he can handle HOOK, who stands up and Sterling tells Nese to leave, which the two do. Danhausen pops up behind HOOK, who tosses the ball he was holding over his head, Danhausen can’t hold onto it and falls down. Commentary announces that Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland will face Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks after the break.
— Back from the break and TNT Champion Scorpio Sky is backstage with Ethan Page and Dan Lambert. Scorpio says that Sammy Guevara’s finally going to get the ass kicking that he deserves at Battle For The Belts and the only thing that’s bigger in Texas…is his [Scorpio] winning streak.
Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland vs. Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks
— Swerve and Hobbs start this one off. Hobbs shoves Swerve to the corner, Swerve with an arm-lock, Hobbs tosses Swerve to the ropes and slams him then plants Swerve with an over-head slam before making the tag to the hometown boy, Starks, who slams Swerve in the chest, goes up top, walks the ropes and nails Swerve with a shoulder strike. Swerve bounces off the ropes and kicks Starks before dragging him to the corner and making the tag to Lee. Starks fights out of the corner with a chip but Swerve holds Starks down and Lee wallops Starks with a double-chop to the chest. Lee makes the tag to Swerve, who rolls up Starks, who slides out but Swerve sends Starks to the corner and then to the outside. Hobbs interferes, Lee tosses him out, Seerve goes up top and launches himself off of Lee’s chest and takes out Starks on the outside as we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and Lee avoids a spear from Hobbs, who accidentally drills Starks in the corner. Lee tosses Hobbs back and launches Starks into him. Lee makes the tag to Swerve, who covers Starks after a massive chop to the chest from Lee to Starks but Starks lifts the shoulders at two. Swerve goes for a slam, Starks slides out, Swerve tosses Starks out of the ring and drills him with a kick. Swerve tosses Starks back into the ring and trips Hobbs off the apron before going for a cutter on Starks but Starks comes back with a spear out of nowhere. Starks trips Lee off the apron and plants Swerve with a destroyer before going for the cover but Swerve kicks out at two-and-a-half! Starks puts Swerve on the top turnbuckle, Lee makes the blind-tag, Swerve tosses Starks off the top, Lee drills him with a shoulder tackle then goes for the cover but Hobbs makes the save. Lee and Hobbs comes face-to-face, Starks trips Lee as Taz comes down to the ring. Starks goes for a slam, Lee knocks him back and knocks Hobbs off the apron, Starks slides out of a Lee slam, knocks Swerve off the apron, Lee puts Starks on the top turnbuckle, Starks knocks Lee back and goes for the cover but Swerve comes flying off the top rope with a splash to break it up. Hobbs is tagged in, Lee knocks him back and goes for a splash but Taz trips Lee and Hobbs plants Lee with a spine-buster and gets the three-count for the win!
Winners – Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks
— Commentary announces that ‘Hangman’ Adam Page will defend the AEW World Championship against Adam Cole this Friday on Rampage at a special start time of 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT. It’s also announced that Blackpool Combat Club will face Gunn Club this Friday, as well as Ruby Soho against Robyn Renegade in a Owen Hart Cup qualifying match. Commentary also confirms a trio for matches for Saturday night’s Battle of The Belts special event. Scorpio Sky will defend the TNT Championship against Sammy Guevara, Jonathan Gresham will defend the Ring Of Honor World Championship against Dalton Castle and Thunder Rosa will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Nyla Rose. Tony Schiavone is then shown backstage with the aforementioned AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa. Tony asks her about her match against Nyla Rose. Before Rosa can say anything, Nyla and Vickie Guerrero interrupt. Nyla has a cake and Vickie congratulates Rosa on having the shortest title reign in AEW history. Rosa shoves the cake in Nyla’s face, Nyla can’t see, Vickie tells Nyla to attack Rosa but Nyla clocks Vickie with a forearm. Rosa attacks Nyla but Nyla gets the better of the exchange and it’s announced that our main event will go down after the break.
Minoru Suzuki (C) vs. Samoa Joe — Ring Of Honor World Television Championship
— This one is violent right from the start. A massive exchange of strikes start this one off, Suzuki gets the better of it, Joe powers out of a hold and tosses Suzuki to the mat. The champion comes back with some strikes and takes the face of Joe as we see Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt in the crowd. Suzuki lines Joe up for a pile-driver but he shoves Joe back and they start chopping each other in the chest. Suzuki with a head-lock but Joe counters into a side slam. Both competitors struggle to their feet, Suzuki lets out a yell and sets Joe up for the pile-driver but Joe fights out, Suzuki gets Joe to the corner and lands a knee then looks for the rear-naked choke but Joe shoves Suzuki to the corner and puts the champion on the top turnbuckle. Suzuki looks for an arm-bar, Joe breaks free, scoops Suzuki and plants him with the muscle buster before going for the cover and he gets the 1-2-3 for the win! New champion!
Winner – Samoa Joe (NEW Ring Of Honor World Television Champion)
— After the match, Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal get on the mic. Sonjay sarcastically congratulates Joe on the win, Lethal does the same and has a gift box with him and says last week, he and Sonjay promised Joe a gift that he knows Joe will appreciate. Sonjay asks for a drum roll, Lethal opens the box and it’s his middle finger. Joe looks pissed and the lights go out, they come back up and Satnam Singh is in the ring and attacks Joe from behind! Singh puts Joe out cold with a double-hand choke, Lethal hits Joe with Lethal Injection and Singh, Lethal and Dutt all celebrate over Joe as the show goes off-the-air.
