Jacare Souza Signs 8 Fight Contract With The UFC
Top ranked middleweight fighter Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has signed a new eight fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championships.
If a new contract had not been agreed upon, the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion would've become a free agent after UFC On Fox 24.
The fighter will be competing tomorrow night at UFC On Fox 24 against Robert Whittaker, which is the first fight on that new eight fight deal.
Upon revealing the news to the MMA masses, the UFC President in Dana White commented on the middleweight's decision to stay with the promotion.
“He’s one of the best middleweights in the world and has the potential to be a world champion, so he belongs in the UFC,” White told MMA Junkie. “I am pumped to see him fight another potential title holder in Whittaker on Saturday.”
While preparing for his upcoming bout against Whittaker, the middleweight contender released a brief statement through social media on his new contract.
“I'm very happy,” Jacare wrote. “New contract signed with the UFC! Let’s go for some more battles!"
Souza currently holds a 6-1-0 record in UFC competition, with an overall record of 24-4-0-1NC in his professional MMA career.
UFC On Fox 24 takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
